frequently asked questions

  • The BEST way to consult with me about your tattoo is to come talk to me in person! When we are able to meet and discuss your concepts, I can get the best possible vision of the tattoo you want, and you are able to express your ideas as well as any concerns without the possibility of miscommunication. This provides a much more personable and relaxing experience for you, and less hassle for me to not have to go back & forth with messages when it comes to design detail or scheduling.

If you are unable to make a trip to the shop but would still like to consult with me, you can send me a messsge by clicking HERE.

Consults are not necessary unless you are unsure about anything regarding your tattoo design or any part of the tattoo process or procedure, you are a new client who prefers to meet your artist before scheduling with them, or you just want to make sure we are on the same page. Since I work by appointment only, I have outlined all my policies here on this website so they can be viewed at any time, and you are more than welcome to contact me otherwise with any other questions you may have. Please do not schedule a consultation with me if you are price shopping or are not planning to book an appointment.

  • Currently I am booking month to month to keep wait times down, so generally you'll be able to book as soon as the same week, with a maximum wait time of three weeks.

  • We accept cash and all major debit/credit cards at Jersey Devil. I also accept electronic payments through multiple services, such as Venmo, Cashapp, Paypal, Zelle, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Facebook Pay. Any service not listed here- just ask! We do NOT have an ATM in the shop, however there is a Wawa less than half a mile down the road where you can take money out.

  • Yes! Minors (minimum age 16) can have a tattoo done while accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, with the proper documentation and paperwork completed.

    Documents required by law:

    - Photo ID for minor (i.e. drivers license, state ID, or school photo ID)

    - Photo ID for parent

    - Birth certificate for minor

    OR

    - paperwork proving legal guardianship

All names on paperwork must match the names on the IDs. Failure to provide these documents at or before the time of the appointment or providing invalid or false documets will result in a reschedule or cancellation of the appointment, and your booking fee will be forfeited.

State law: No children under the age of 12 permitted inside the building.

  • Over the years I have completed many tattoos in a vast range of styles, so I do not promote myself as "specializing" in any particular style. My clients tend to seek me out for my linework (fine line/minimalism, handwriting replication, custom lettering/script), as well as my floral work (black & grey realism, fine/neotraditional styles). While I enjoy working with just about any style, I always LOVE tatooing roses (of any style), custom lettering, and stylized traditional pieces. I also very much enjoy any style freehand pieces that I can draw right on your skin! At the end of the day there is nothing I don’t have fun with, so ANY ideas you have for an awesome tattoo are ALWAYS welcome!!

  • Generally I price tattoos with a flat fee for each design. This takes into account the intricacy of the design, the size of the tattoo, and its placement on the body. All of these factors determine the amount of time the tattoo should take me to complete, and that time is reflected in the price. I normally require payment at the end of your session, or at the end of each session for large scale work that requires multiple sittings.

  • Most of the tattoos I do are ideas brought to me by the client, and I understand that most inspiration comes from existing tattoos as well as other artists' designs found on the internet. I always recommend using reference photos to help convey design concepts as well as tattoo styles. While I will never directly copy someone else's work, I will draw my own version of it and make any adjustments needed to ensure the design is custom to each client and works well with each clients' preferences.

  • UPDATE: FDA warnings about numbing creams- CLICK HERE

In my experience, numbing agents tend to affect the tattooing process in a negative way. Therefore I do not provide any at the shop, and I strongly recommend against using them. There are many different brands and types of topical anesthetics, all made with different ingredients, and I have no way of verifying that a cream you used will not be harmful to your skin, your tattoo, or your health. Some ingredients have seriously negative effects on the body and can drastically effect the healing process, and can even raise your heart rate and blood pressure. During the tattoo application, numbing agents tend to change the texture of the skin by constricting the blood vessels in the area, making it feel rougher and resist the injection if the ink. Worst of all, once the numbness wears off (which is accelerated by cleaning/wiping during the process), when the pain returns it tends to be much worse and more than the client can handle.

At the end of the day, tattoos are supposed to hurt! Most people can sit through their session without any numbing agents, and it helps me tremendously not to have to deal with someone in double the pain they would have been in had they not used it to begin with. I will not refuse service for using it, however if you cannot sit because of it, or we have to cut the session short, you will not be discounted for a shorter session.
